Help Grow The Edge Community Garden

The Edge Foursquare Church would like to start a community garden to serve the community at-large and compliment the work done by our local food bank, school food backpack program, and the BuyNothing Facebook groups. You can help grow The Edge Community Garden by sharing your time, talent, and treasure. We will be needing volunteers to help assemble, plant, water, pick, and distribute food. Contact our project manager Kile Rury if you’d like to help or you can give a tax deductible gift directly through our Donate or GoFundMe page or mail a check with Comment: Community Garden to The Edge Foursquare Church, 3306 Meridian Avenue E, Edgewood, WA 98371.

Intentionally growing food to give away can help those in need.

The Edge Foursquare Church would like to start a community garden to serve the community at-large by using GreenStalk Vertical Planters . We also have a large field that could easily support crops like corn and vine crops in the future. As a  demonstration garden, we want to encourage community members to grow their own gardens and share from their abundance, to reach even more people.

These GreenStalks would primarily be salad garden planters and would include varieties of lettuce, kale, swiss chard, bok choi, spinach, carrots, everbearing strawberries, and cherry tomatoes, that people would regularly use for healthy meals.

Our goal is to raise enough to purchase 6 Five Tier GreenStalk Vertical Planters + Movers at a 50% nonprofit discount plus shipping, potting soil, fertilizer, and seeds for these planters. This discount is only available through December 31st so funds are needed by December 27th to meet this deadline.

Our community garden project manager owns a GreenStalk and has already been sharing the abundance it produces with the community. His experience with the GreenStalk Vertical Planter, growing up on a farm, and experience with raised beds caused him to realize that this would be the easiest and most productive way to do a community garden. They also help conserve on precious water resources compared to other methods. Learn about what a GreenStalk is.
